Doubling of dementia by 2050: why the care burden must be shared more fairly

The population of dementia sufferers in the Netherlands is projected to double to over 610,000 by 2050. At present, the care for this group falls disproportionately on female shoulders. This imbalance is unsustainable given the expected increase in patients. VU researcher Yvonne Krabbe-Alkemade and her colleagues are calling for a cultural shift: men need to play a more active role in supporting people with dementia.

Growing offering of masterclasses and short courses

Demand for short, practice-oriented courses and masterclasses among professionals is growing rapidly. In response, the School of Business and Economics (SBE) is further expanding its range of courses. Last autumn, the Economic and Financial Data Analysis with Python training course attracted interest from finance professionals looking to strengthen their data and analysis skills. This training course will be offered again on 12 and 13 March.

In addition, the Investment masterclass in Private Assets will take place on 11 and 12 May. This masterclass is organised by VU Amsterdam in collaboration with the VBA Academy of CFA Society Netherlands and responds to the growing need for up-to-date and in-depth knowledge in a rapidly changing financial landscape.

Meanwhile, SBE is already working on new programmes for 2026. So keep an eye on the programmes on offer! The range of training programmes continues to develop and will be further expanded in the coming period.
